The collaborative process at Great Rewrites Scientific Editing is one of ongoing communication, from initial contact through final approval of the edited documents.
If you are interested in hiring a technical editor to help with your project, the process starts by contacting us with an inquiry. Please describe the type of the project, approximate number of pages and/or word count, work you would like us to provide, and desired turnaround time.
If you are unsure of any details or have a limited budget, let us know and we can provide some options and work with you to craft a feasible work proposal. We maintain the utmost confidentiality in all communications, and initial inquiries and estimates are always free.
We strive to respond to all inquiries within one business day and to provide a cost estimate promptly. If you are happy with the quote and would like to proceed, we will execute a contract which spells out the scope of work, deliverables, milestones and due dates.
From here, we will work with you on the project in the manner described in the scope of work. This could involve a single round of editing, multiple iterations between editor and author, or ongoing collaborative writing and editing, including video meetings as needed. If a project is at risk of exceeding the initial cost estimate, we will communicate with you and provide options for how to proceed, ensuring you are never surprised by the final bill.
Once all work has been completed and deliverables are in hand to your satisfaction, we can work directly with your grants or billing manager to provide all necessary documentation in your organization’s preferred format for payment and tax accounting.
